Due to family and family health issues I have resigned from both
the MEF and Alpine Club, however below is an outline of my proud
association and roles held with them over the years.
The Alpine Club was established in 1863 and is still the only
UK based mountaineering club catering specifically for those
who climb in the Greater Ranges. I have been a member
of the Club since 1995 having been sponsored by the late
Paul Nunn and Joe Simpson.
Following the successful first ascent of Everest in 1953 a fund
was set up and administered jointly by the Alpine Club and
Royal Geographical Society to give financial support and
encouragement to exploratory mountain expeditions, it is called
the Mount EverestFoundation or MEF. It has been a delight
and an honour to be a member of the Screening Committee of
the MEF for several years considering applications for support
for exploration in world's remote mountain areas. In November
2020, after 10 years of membership, I was appointed as the
MEF Honorary Secretary to both the Screening Committee and
Management Committee.
Application to join the Alpine Club or to find out about the MEF
